PRESS RELEASE | Bowling Green, KY - Legacy in Motion: LaVelle Smith's Dance Journey from Kentucky to Pop Icons
LaVelle Smith — the legendary choreographer who created iconic performances for Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, and The Rolling Stones — returns to his Kentucky roots for a special evening of performance and storytelling.
This high-energy event celebrates Smith's journey from Kentucky's Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) to the world's biggest stages. He'll perform choreography from his own repertoire and Michael Jackson's catalog alongside the WKU Dance Company.
The event is presented by Kentucky to the World in partnership with Kentucky Performing Arts, Western Kentucky University's Dance Program, and the Gatton Academy.
"LaVelle's professional career so closely aligns with Kentucky to the World's mission focus, which is to shine a light on stories from the Bluegrass that have had worldwide impacts across arts, culture, science and beyond."
