Kentucky to the World Celebrates America250

As the U.S. commemorates its 250th anniversary of independence in 2026, organizations across the nation are celebrating the people, places, and events that make up our country’s shared history. That’s certainly the case at Kentucky to the World, which is proud to honor the legacy of our Commonwealth. See some of the ways KTW - and Kentuckians at large - celebrate America250 below.

Kentucky to the World Short Film Celebrates Baseball’s Most Iconic Bat

In November 2025, KTW’s Director of Strategic Planning and Documentary Film, Tommy Johns, debuted a new original short film: Louisville Slugger: The Sound of a Nation. Funded in part by a Kentucky Historical Society America250KY grant, this film honors the impact of Louisville Slugger on America’s pastime.

Louisville Slugger: The Sound of a Nation continues to screen daily at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory located on West Main Street in Louisville. You can also view it for free on Kentucky to the World’s YouTube channel

Kentucky Celebrates America250

July 4th may have passed, but Kentucky continues to celebrate America250 all year long! Check out some other events across the Commonwealth celebrating our state’s history and culture:

The Pike County Public Library will host a series of America250-themed events from July through September. Search for clues on a Young Patriots Scavenger Hunt, watch the history of Daniel Boone come to life in a Chautauqua performance, or learn how to play traditional mountain music at a dulcimer workshop.

Step back in time in Lawrenceburg as experts clad in pioneer attire discuss the history and heritage of Kentucky’s culinary scene. Fun for food and history lovers alike!

Take a Trailblazer’s Tour across Central Kentucky, where Kentucky Historical Society educators will guide you through the battlefields and historic sites connected to our state’s founding on a day-long bus tour.

See more educational events across the state, including film screenings, battle memorial ceremonies, and civic engagement events, on the Kentucky Historical Society’s website

Kentucky to the World is proud of the role our Commonwealth has and continues to play in the history of our country, and we look forward to the next 250 years of Kentucky culture, innovation, and spirit. From all of us at Kentucky to the World, happy birthday, America!
